Influenced by e-commerce websites present around, old and conventional market system is coming to a downfall. An alarming downfall indeed! These newly emerging methods of promoting online products is wiping out the trend of traditional marketing. As a consequence, prices have fallen down and so is the quality, eroding out the basic ethics of market.

To market their products, these e-commerce websites showcase some real captivating fake discounts and offers so as to attract more and more customers. Sounds good enough! But then, A question arises asking “Whether the discounts which  these e-commerce websites showcase are in actual some discount, or a mere scheme to be-fool us ?” . Answer being a clear “NO”. Reason being, what these e-commerce websites generally do is charge a price higher than the original price. They then, give some (so called)  attractive discount deals on the price they charge. At the end nullifying the price difference between two i.e. both market and e-commerce website prices comes to an equilibrium level. In fact sometimes, even after giving these discount the prices are still higher than the market price.

Undoubtedly, these e-commerce websites have made our life much easier and convenient than what it used to be. But they need to work upon several loopholes which they have. Firstly, they should stop being so manipulative and enter into fair marketing rather than molding things in such a way that it misguide or misleads the customers. Secondly, they should opt for a fair marketing of their products i.e. instead of giving these unreal discount schemes, they should initiate some authentic ones which can benefit their customers.

Making any false claim and then pulling your hands back is something which is against the business norms/ethics. Anyone, may it be some e-commerce website or he be a man sitting in market trying to sell his goods should not practice this deed of false marketing, introducing these fake discounts to attract their customers. More importantly, it is also the duty of customers to be attentive while buying anything. They should try, not getting trapped in these vague offers and are sensible enough to make a fair choice.  We as customers, need to realize that “Discounts are just meant for attracting, as there is no businessmen who’ll give us incentives out of his own pocket. But at the end everything has to be recovered from customers only.”
