Minister for Urban development and municipal administration K Taraka Rama Rao inaugurated the project on April 26th. Currently, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is removing the hyacinth from the durgam cheruvu lake with an estimated cost of 50 lacs.
This part of the project has been endowed to Raheja I.T company as corporate social responsibility and are working at a pace to complete it by the end of July.
According to GHMC commissioner B Janardhan Reddy, The bridge stands on 13 pillars out of which five pillars have already been constructed, He also added saying ” with the completion of bridge design. The foundation work is in progress and two pylons are being planned over the lake.
The durgam cheruvu restoration project also includes a cycling track of 2 kilometers length, children’s play park, yoga center as a part of the beautification of Lake two crore has been sanctioned. An artificial pond which accommodates up to 3000 idols is also being planned. The idols will be removed after immersion. With this step, they can prevent pollution of the lake.
After inaugurating the project. as minister KT Rama Rao set the deadline to get the bridge ready withing 18 months from the day of inauguration. This work is currently running at an increased pace and will definitely be a tourist attraction according to officials.
The cost of construction with 188 crores approx includes 10.48 km bridge being constructed from Ambedkar Open University at Jubilee hills, road no. 45 to Inorbit Mall in Madhapur.
