For every wrong that we do today, we will have to pay tomorrow. This world counts numerous human beings, plentiful mistakes & infinite wrongs. All this implying, copious harm to our mother earth. These crises are increasing tremendously, jostling our future in shades of dark. Consequently, a risk comes to upcoming generations i.e “Next Generation Global Crisis”.
Frequent occurring natural disasters are harming humankind at a very alarming rate and are one of the most influential causes of next global crisis. They not only result in loss of property and human lives but also end up depleting natural resources essential for sustenance of future generations. Although most of these natural disasters occur naturally (on their own) if we go to the core of this problem, we,“humans” are the ones who are directly or indirectly responsible for each of such calamity. Next, terrorism is another leading cause of threat to future generations. At around every point on the globe, individuals face the threat, uncertainty, and fear of terrorism every day.
Frequent acts of terrorism result in leaving everlasting imprints of fear among the minds of people, leading to mental instability. Also, these acts of terrorism have several governmental impacts, leading to political imbalance for generations to come.
Mass migration is another leading cause of next generation crisis. Understanding it more, ‘Mass migration refers to the migration of large groups of people from one geographical area to another’. According to a report, Professor Rowthorn, a former consultant to the International Monetary Fund and the UN Trade and Development Commission said, “Unrestrained population growth by mass migration would eventually have a negative impact on the standard of living through its environmental effects such as overcrowding, congestion and loss of amenity. Again, mass migration implies an alarming threat for future generations.
In this era of tech, Cyber Warfare also adds up to the problem of Crisis of next generation. Cyberwarfare has been defined as “actions by a nation-state to penetrate another nation’s computers or networks for the purposes of causing damage or disruption”. Since cyberwarfare aims to intervene unauthorized information, it creates complications leading to disturbance between two countries, raising up the chances of war in future.
The lessons of sustainable development seem to be eroded out of our minds. So, basically,
Sustainable development is the development that meets the needs of the present, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
MUCH NEEDED TO PREPARE AGAINST “NEXT GENERATION CRISIS”.
