New Jeep Compass SUV will be Jeep’s least priced automobile and will be a deathly challenge to its rivals Hyundai Creta, XUV 500, Tucson and may also have an impact on higher segment SUV like Fortuner, Endeavour.
THE PREMIUM FAMILY OF JEEP COMPASS
Previous launches from the Jeep, The Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler in premium SUV lines, now offer the five seater compass smaller in size but presents similar kind of features as in Grand Cherokee and Wrangler. On basic models i.e. entry level petrol at 14.95 lakh rupees and shoots up to 20.65 lakh for the top end diesel model.
All models have the flagship front grille with chromium template. The eye catching Xenon Head lights and the grille lets you not forget that this SUV is from the premium family. And the chrome line which slips along the length of the window to the rear gives an extravagant appeal.
INSIDE THE BONNET
The Jeep Compass SUV houses 1.4 Litre petrol Engine with manual and Automatic Transmission and also Fiat’s very own 2.0 lite Multi-jet II diesel engine. In the petrol version, the 1.4-litre turbo produces 160 BHP and 250 Nm of peak Torque. Diesel version produces 170 BHP and 350 Nm of Peak Torque. The petrol version is being offered only in the 2WD system but the diesel has both 2WD and 4WD with auto, snow, sand and mud drive modes. And are equivalent to BS-VI norms. The price being so might point to the competitors but other reason being the model being manufactured at Fiat’s Ranjangaon Plant near Pune.
When it comes to the interior, the cabin is equipped well and offers leather soft padded seats and the leather also extended onto doors. The elegance of dashboard also adds the luxurious feel to the passengers though the layout is simple. It also Boasts the infotainment system with Apple car play and Android Auto. Additional features include electronic parking assist, frequency sensing damping technology etc.
Unlike other SUV’s in this segment, Jeep hasn’t compromised on safety systems. The Jeep Compass SUV gets over 50 safety features like traction control, brake assist, electronic roll mitigation, hill start assist and also 6 air bags.
Jeep says they already received over 40,000 enquiries while 5000+ bookings have already happened.
